Students out there! Are you fed up with listening to the ticking of the clock behind you as you study? That dog barking outside? Or the sound of the radiator coming on? We all know the feeling of studying in silence, or should I say the near impossibility of it. There's always something to break up your train of thought and therefore negatively impacting your deep study sessions.
Music that is soothing and relaxing can help students to beat stress or anxiety while studying and can also help students to beat stress or anxiety while studying. Music may improve focus on a task by providing motivation to you, that "keep going" voice in your head, and overall improve your mood. During a long study session, it is music that studies have shown can really help to aid endurance.
So, to help you, students, out, we here at FocusTune have done the work here for you and have tracked down some of the best playlists out there to ensure that you no longer have those pestering distractions during your study sessions and can work well! Whether it's the soft sounds of the rain or waves, or classical music that you discover you like best, we have it!
1. Chill Lofi Study Beats
These tracks bring that white noise element we all always hear about into play. This playlist really helps keep your brain focused on even the dreariest of tasks at hand. These types of playlists can be found not only on Spotify but are also extremely popular on YouTube. This playlist is our personal fav here at FocusTune.
2. Instrumental Study
No one can be stressed listening to this playlist, all your worries just leave your head and you can finally focus on the task that's right in front of you. Let your mind unwind and gain clarity as you listen to this playlist. This definitely won't be everyone's taste as some songs could be confused with possibly an upper class's bar playlist, however, for some, it will tap into their brain and get those juices flowing - it's all a matter of trial and error folks!
3. Brain Food
Found on Spotify, this almost hypnotic electronic playlist really gets your brain juices flowing. Your brain craves a variety of sounds as much as it does knowledge and certain sounds can trigger this such as electronic mainstays.
4. Study Vibes
A little more upbeat than its peers, Study Vibes is for an electronic-tinged musical collection. While still calm, the BPMs run higher here. If that’s your preferred method for engaging with your educational material, this might be your study playlist.
5. Study Soundtrack
Now, this playlist might not be everyone's cup of tea, as it does contain some very, and maybe too familiar themes songs from some of our favourite TV shows, movies and also video games! However, it's definitely one to make any particularly boring essays, all the more bearable when writing.
6. Study with the Piano Guys
Again, if it's your thing and works for you, this playlist is for those who want to listen to songs they recognise, this is a great direction to go in. The Piano Guys, a musical group based out of Utah, has kindly thrown together this compilation of all their covers of popular music. You’d be surprised what kind of intellectual results can come from a cover of One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful” playing softly in the background. This one is a personal favourite I must say.
We hope this blog post was able to provide some help to you students out there, and you can begin listening your way to success!

There’s no better feeling than finding a new song that you love! You listen to it non-stop for days on end and it makes you happy every time you hear it. Eventually, you think you might be ready for something new. At this point, I usually look at that same artist’s other albums or songs, hoping to find another masterpiece for the next few days. With music legends however, this can be a daunting task. If you, like me, weren't fortunate enough to grow up when all these legends were releasing music, you have probably missed out on a huge amount of amazing songs. When you look at artists like Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton and Fleetwood Mac, who played for decades and released countless albums, there are hundreds of songs to work through, and naturally, not all of them are great songs. In these huge collections of hundreds or thousands of songs, it can be easy to stick to the most famous songs, meaning some incredible songs have been lost in time, or simply haven’t gotten the attention they deserve – until today. In this list, I’m going to name some of the best songs from music legends which don’t feature in the artists’ Top 10 on Spotify - and I think they need more recognition. So without further ado, let’s get started on rediscovering 7 Most Underrated Songs from Music Legends!
