Does the idea of spending your evening with a great cast, funky 70s fashion, typewriters and mayhem appeal to you?

Well then, hop along to the Abbey Theatre to see The Fall of the Second Republic.

The red Luas stops a few steps from the door, and you get to experience an evening in the company of some brilliant Irish actors in the national theatre of Ireland.

The play is set in the 1980s with a sly Taoiseach (Manny Spillane) in charge, he's been in power a long time, surrounded by his cronies, and can think of nothing but building his all important legacy: the Irish Business Centre (IBC).

Unfortunately, there is a run down theatre on the site where his beloved IBC is to be built, so what will become of his legacy?

“The Fall of the Second Republic” is at the Abbey Theatre until the 14th March.

It’s a co-production with Annie Ryan of The Corn Exchange, a theatre company famous for taking risks in their productions.
