This tell-all documentary gives viewers an insight into the turbulent relationship between Oasis brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher. The 2016 documentary was directed by Mat Whitecross and provides unseen footage explaining the history of one of England’s most celebrated rock bands. 2. Beyoncé – Homecoming
Homecoming premiered on Netflix in 2019, and is widely considered by critics to be one of the best music related documentaries ever. The film follows American singer Beyoncé through her 2018 performance at the Coachella music festival, and provides an engaging and in-depth look at how much work and effort was put into the show. The award-winning documentary also stars many big names such as Beyoncé’s husband Jay-Z, Kelly Rowland, and Solange.
3. Steve Aoki – I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead
This Grammy-nominated documentary follows the life of one of the worlds most talented DJ’s. Viewers are given an intimate look at the most personal aspects of Aoki’s life, such as his relationship with his parents, and includes interviews with his family members, as well as fellow artists such as Tiësto and will.i.am. Furthermore, the film shows how dedicated Aoki is to his craft, and why he is so well-respected in the industry.
4. Lady Gaga: Five Foot Two
Five Foot Two follows the efforts put into the production of Lady Gaga’s recent album, Joana, and examines her preparations for performing at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2017. Gaga discusses her struggles with mental health and the affects that her dedication to her craft have had on her. Netflix describes the documentary as a way to give viewers an “unfiltered, behind-the-scenes access” to a year in the life of one of the most outspoken and exuberant artists in the music industry.
5. Lil Peep – Everybody’s Everything
Everybody’s Everything is an up-front look at the life of American rapper and songwriter Gustav Eijah Ahr, better known by his stage name Lil Peep. The film documents the rise of a young star through his battles with his mental health, and examines the circumstances which led to his tragic death at the age of 21. The documentary has received critical acclaim, receiving a 100% rating on the review platform, Rotten Tomatoes. Furthermore, some of the industry’s biggest names have expressed their enjoyment of the film, with rapper Drake calling it “genius” in a recent interview with Rap Radar.
