Want to look good while also being environmentally conscious? No Problem! Below lists 5 fashion brands that have taken the first step in ensuring more ecological production and waste reduction throughout its clothing while remaining up to date and stylish… Sounds like a win win to me!

At the end of the day… it’s the little things that make all the difference and sustainable clothing is a great place to start.

1 - Levi Strauss & Co              Levis-Logo-2003-now

Everyone remembers their first pair of Levi’s… The industry standard for high quality fashionable denim wear dating back to 1853 has taken the world by storm in introducing its forward thinking methods of responsible production. The vast array of authentic clothing products and its eco-friendly approach ticks all the boxes when it comes to ethical fashion.

The company proudly promotes it reduced up to 96% of water normally used in denim production. In 2018 Levi’s announced Project F.L.X where it aims to reduce all hazardous chemical in its production while also using 100% sustainable cotton by the end of 2020!  However, Levi’s doesn’t  just focus on its product, it implements this ethical standard across its whole supply chain when it comes to worker empowerment, health and wellbeing. The best part is… Levi’s can be found on nearly every high street. So what are you waiting for?

2 - VEJA Sneakers                veja-logo-png-4

The popular sneaker brand VEJA has essentially been created with sustainability and ethics at its core. The word “VEJA” itself is Portuguese for “look” (as this is the local language of the production country, Brazil), which means looking beyond the sneakers themselves and focusing on how they’re made. The company achieves this through its “Transparency” policy, where it openly answers a number of common ethical questions:

“How are VEJAs made?”

“How much are labourers paid?”

“What chemicals are used in a pair?”

This brand is truly committed to eco and ethical practice, it even holds sustainability higher than cost saving as VEJA sneakers “cost 5 times more than big brand sneakers”. Not many brands are committed to the same level. As best said by the companies mission statement, “the idea behind a pair of VEJA: standing up with one foot in design and the other in social responsibility.” More importantly… they actually have a vegan option.

This one is for the fitness fanatics out there! Columbia is the number one source for accessible and innovative outdoor gear for those less warm climates…

The company’s president, Joe Boyle aims to ensure every customer is “proud to wear [their] products any time you step into the outdoors”. This is accomplished through the companies vast ideology aiming at preserving natural resources, adopting responsible practices, and partnering with organisations to empower a sustainable life.

Although all of Columbia’s clothing follows this ethos, for those consumers who demand maximum environmental protection the “Eco Collection” is a no brainer! It ensures maximum performance with a minimal environmental impact. So as you’re spending your day in the great outdoors, you can rest assured you’re taking a positive step to protecting it.
