Empire State Building
The Empire State Building is one of the most iconic spots in all of the United States. It can cost anywhere from $30-$100 to check out the observatory deck. Prices will depend on whether or not you want to wait in line. When it was built, it was the tallest building in not only the United States, but the entire world, which is the main reason for its fame. A gift from France, the Statue of Liberty is sign of the United States promise to bring liberty and justice to all. Visiting the Statue of Liberty can get pricey if not well researched. To get there you need to take a ferry and guide yourself or you can book a tour of the Statue along with Ellis Island. Tours are about an hour long.
Times Square
With its bright lights, restaurants and shops, Times Square is one of the busiest spots in New York City. It is located in midtown Manhattan, and is lit up by lights and advertisements giving it an experience like no where else. Completely free to visit, unless you plan on dining or shopping. However it is a very open and popular spot, so I wouldn't recommend visiting until the Corona virus pandemic has ended.
