With lockdown extended for another 9 weeks it has never been more important to look after your physical health. College students have more free time now than ever. It is a perfect opportunity for you to try to get in great shape for a hopefully covid free summer. In this blog I will address some of my personal favorite sessions that have helped me keep in shape over the last few months. Everyone has a different level of fitness so it would be unfair to start everyone off at the same intensity. I Will go through many levels of different types of sessions with varied intensity.

Work-from-home has become the new way for many students and professionals. While at the beginning of the pandemic many people may have been comfortable working and studying from the kitchen table, the novelty has now worn off. It’s time to take the plunge and reorganise your house to give yourself a work space, a functional desk and a chair that won’t have you bent double.

Across the world, people are being told to stay at home and practice social distancing. The traditional student experience as we know it has completely vanished. There is no socialising, in-person lectures, team sports or travelling. College during a pandemic is vastly different to the traditional college experience posing many challenges such as loneliness, lack of motivation but it also poses many remote opportunities for students. It provides an opportunity to look at new ways of doing things and perhaps incorporate these into our post-pandemic lives.

University clubs and societies are an integral part of many college students’ lives and as a commerce student in UCD, they have definitely had a positive impact on my college life. A place to make new friends, learn new skills and experience new events. Nearly every student will join a club or college society at least once in their time and in my opinion, there is no better way to enhance your university experience than showing up to freshers week with an open mind, going to the freshers tent and joining as many as you can. It will give you events to attend, an outlet from the academic side to college and more importantly, free stuff! My first memory of being a student in UCD is attending the Iron Stomach event during freshers week in my first year; run by the Commerce and Economics Society (c&e) where members are challenged to eat and drink outrageous amount of horrible food and drinks in front of a huge crowd on the freshers stage. This was the first of many highlights to my student experience that have been brought through university clubs and societies. In this article I will discuss a club and a college society that I am in, as well as university clubs and societies in other Dublin universities that I would recommend joining next freshers week.
