Netflix Suggestions

Our Top Shows and Movies for You to Watch Now!

NFX

Stuck scrolling through Netflix spending more time searching for what to watch than you spend actually watching things? We feel your pain and so welcome to our blog where we share our top Netflix suggestions to help you get through this pandemic!

We will give you our current top 3 shows and top 3 movies on our favourite streaming service, Netflix. These will range from a variety of different genres so that hopefully everybody can find their cup of tea from our recommendations. Without further ado, let’s get into the list!

Who doesn’t love a good TV series? Luckily, Netflix is the place to be for series with an abundance of shows from all over the world as well as an impressive fleet of Netflix originals. For those of you that don’t mind a bit of a commitment, we recommend Suits. Although suits did not originate on Netflix, it was certainly massively popularised by the platform. Suits is known to be one of the greatest shows created in recent times and we just can’t help but agree with that. The show is about the main character Mike Ross, who gets hired by a top law firm due to his natural capabilities and intelligence without any qualifications. This has to be kept a secret which paves the way for a fascinating drama. Suits boasts an impressive fleet of actors and actresses including the ever-relevant Meghan Markle. We think that anyone would consider a career change to law after watching the captivating characters in Suits!

On the other hand, many of you will squirm at the idea of committing to such a lengthy show and so our current suggestion for those of you with commitment issues is Bridgerton. This is a brand-new Netflix original series with only one season released to date. Watching this gave us Downton Abbey vibes which is certainly not a bad thing. Bridgerton is a romantic drama set in the 1800s telling the tale of how the children in a powerful British family find love. At times, the show can be a bit cheesy, but we loved it and highly recommend it as a whole. Bring on season 2!

Bridge

Our final recommendation might be a bit controversial. We bring you to yet another Netflix original, “Stranger Things”. Stranger Things is one of those shows that you either love or hate. It is a fictional horror set in a small town in Indiana in 1983. It tells the tale of Joyce Byers and her missing 12-year-old son. Joyce launches a terrifying investigation into his disappearance. As they search for answers, they unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiments, unnerving supernatural forces, and a very unusual little girl. This show will keep you on the edge of your seat and is certainly something that we recommend if you’re struggling with what to watch on Netflix.

Okay!!! Enough with the shows, I just want to watch a quick movie!

Yes, yes, we hear you. Lots of you don’t have the sheer dedication to get through a show and so we will give you our Netflix suggestions for our top current movies on the platform.

MJ

The first film that we recommend does not need much of an introduction. We present to you “The Truman Show”. This classic plays with the scary concept that life is not real. Truman, the main character is living his life as a character in a TV show. He believes he is living a normal life while the rest of the world watches from their screens. Truman starts to notice things aren’t right and tries to escape the town. Hugely successful classics like The Truman Show typically don’t stay forever on Netflix, so we recommend you get to it if you haven’t already watched it!

TS

The next film we recommend is “The Social Dilemma”. This movie is a Netflix original released last year. It is both educational and scary as it delves into the ethical issues and dangerous human impact of social networking. While elements pf the film can seem slightly exaggerated, it really is still an eye-opener that we believe any social media user should watch!

SD

Our final suggestion for a movie is “The Young Offenders”. This is quite the opposite of “The Social Dilemma” as it is an easy-going, relaxed film to watch. It is a comedy set in our own country in county Cork. The movie follows the comedic adventures of Conor and Jock as they ride off on bicycles to try and find a missing bale of drugs worth €7,000,000 that capsized off the Irish coast. This comical story will keep you laughing throughout while also proving to be quite relatable with its Irish setting! The best part about this movie is that if you like it, you will also love the Young Offender’s show that will give you even more hours of entertainment from the hilarious Cork duo!
