So, we are still in the middle of lockdown and now you’re thinking, it’s time. Today is the day. I will do this.
Do what, some of you might ask, well, it is time to go and kickstart, or if you’ve already begun, ramp up that fitness journey.
Whether you have been putting off starting to strengthen your body, are recovering from injury, or just want to shake it up, this is the place for you! All you need to take part in these home workouts is yourself, your phone, access to internet and the willpower to get through this!
Firstly, I want to introduce myself. My name is Sophie and I am a final year student at UCD. When Covid-19 hit, and the world went into lockdown and isolation, I moved home to the deep countryside of Galway, which seemed like worlds away from the nearest gym. So I had to compromise.
Of course, it took a few months to get into it and to prioritise my fitness and health. However, once I began my home workouts, it gave me more energy, happiness and another thing to do during lockdown! I began from the start, from level zero. Being part of the internet crazed generation, I already had all forms of social media. However, I began to wonder, instead of mindless scrolling, could I use social media to help me get fit?
The short answer is YES!
I have compiled all three of my favourite, and in my opinion, best, home workouts which are available to for you to do at home! I am always looking for workouts which I can make easier or harder as needed, so believe me when I say that here, there is definitely something for everyone to do, from the comfort of your bedroom! (Or really any room, or outdoors, – basically you just need some space where you can swing your arms and kick your legs!)
Before getting into the fitness content, I first want to acknowledge that you have taken the first step. You have begun your fitness journey by looking for ways to better yourself, strengthen your body and condition your mind to lead a healthier, happier life. Well done you!

The Viral Two Week Chloe Ting Shred Challenge
This is the intense, but customisable Chloe Ting Shred Challenge, which took the online world by storm at the beginning of lockdown, with thousands of people taking to social media, especially TikTok, to share their results. This is a Hiit (High Intensity Interval Training) type of workout, where the participants take part in different videos every day, all targeting different parts of the body.

Her workouts are completely free from her YouTube Channel which has over 17 million subscribers. A loyal fan base I would say! YouTube Pilates Instructor Blogilates shows how to get a sweat on while feeling good
Blogilates creator Cassey Ho first made her internet debut on YouTube back in 2009, and since then her Pilates career has grown exponentially. Her channel on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook boasts an impressive following on each. She even brought out her own fitness line which is available in Target. Her most viral video on YouTube has 17 million views, which is very impressive!
Cassey has a wide range of videos from very beginners to the most advanced Pilates masters! She even has a low impact cardio sweat session for people who live close to their neighbours. Through the Blogilates workouts, I really noticed a difference in my fitness and more importantly my fitness mindset. Cassey‘s upbeat attitude and motivational sayings made doing that extra rep just that bit more bearable! Dance it out with Katja on TikTok
Katja Believe, as she is commonly known on Tiktok and Instagram, has gone viral for her upbeat motivational tactics, fun personality, and most famously her dance it out to sweat it out class. She has taken that Zumba style of workout and turned it into a 12- minute dance routine which can be done to any songs that you want! Her use of easy-to-copy, but equally sweat worthy moves have gained her an international following!
