Staycation Ireland 2021: Student Edition

COVID has forced many students who were previously renting places for college and work to return home to living with their parents.

Many of you have been asking us where you should go once we can move between counties again.

We've put together a list of options we're sure you would enjoy with your mates, ranging from AirBnB's to glamping with some budget options in between.

The current Stay and Spend scheme runs until April 2021, offering people 20% tax refunds from eligible properties(need receipts).

Keep an eye out for each place's cancellation policies, better safe than sorry.

The Accommodation

Airbnb

student accommodation

With most of you being students, you will be well acquainted with Airbnb. If accessibility is a must, Airbnb is without a doubt the best marketplace to find a rental property of any description. You can easily filter by location, prices and the amount of people it can house. It has everything from hotels to houses to unique locations, making it one of the first stops for staycation 2021 research.

Self Catering Lodges

Booking.com has an excellent section of self catering lodges scattered throughout Ireland. Self catering is a great option for your staycation and may be the best option for students who have been rejected elsewhere.

Filtering by region is easily done. Booking.com have also compiled a list of the top ten rated self catering lodges in the country here.

Camping

Many people are interested in camping but never actually seem to find the time to do so. Being stuck in the country is the perfect excuse to set aside a few nights to go camping with some friends. It's also one of the better ways to forget COVID exists - relaxing by the fire in the wilderness. Here's an article on the Irish Times with the 50 best camping spots in Ireland

Glamping

glamping

'Glamorous camping' has become more and more popular in recent years. It basically incorporates all the benefits of camping minus the worst bits - lugging heavy equipment, rough sleeps and the not so waterproof tents. Glamping is perfect for students willing to spend a little more to enjoy the outdoors luxuriosly.

Ireland’s Unique Spots

unique stays

With International travel limited for the near future, Staycation 2021 might be the perfect time to spend some nights in one of Ireland's more unique locations. The bubble domes above in Finn Lough are an example of some of the breathtaking accommodation Ireland has to offer. Here's a few more scattered throughout Ireland.

Supervalu Getaway Breaks

There is a deals section on Supervalu Getaway Breaks. The deals can be excellent opportunities for students to find cheaper alternatives to the accommodation above.

Staying Sane with Staycation 2021

There is no doubting that it is a tough time for everyone. Students are obviously far less at risk, but many still suffer mentally by being locked up non-stop.

Hopefully everyone gets the chance to go for a trip with their mates soon. We could all do with it.
