7 Fun Things To Do In A Lockdown
Hacks for Lockdown: How to Beat Boredom.
Okay, we got it! We are in this situation for a while now and the restrictions of Covid-19 seem to never end. Staying cosy under your blanket and watching movies on a rainy day is a great way of spending your time, but if you are an energetic person looking for fun and unique things to do in a lockdown, I have some great tips for you which would save you from boredom. Whether you want to try them with friends, or you are looking for quarantine date ideas, here are some great hacks you can use to surprise them.
Drive in Cinema
Right! Who doesn’t love a good movie? This idea is great if you want to surprise your partner. Simply charge your tablet or your laptop (the bigger the screen, the better the quality!) and make sure it will last for at least 2 hours. Grab a few packs of crisps, some popcorn, your favourite drink, and get your partner and go for a ride (within 5 kilometers, just to be in line with the regulations).
Pick a spot, somewhere you like to go, near to the sea if you are lucky enough to live within 5 km, or in Phoenix Park or near any other park. Any place would do as long as is safe from other dangers. Now you can enjoy a movie night out after so long being at home. Create your own drive in cinema.
I tried the drive in cinema idea, after a few months of not being able to go to the cinema, and it felt like 5 stars experience. Are you looking for a great idea to surprise someone you love and/or something to break your routine? It is time for you to leave the house and try this idea!
Boar Game: Alias
I know, board games. A great way of spending your time. As old fashioned it might seem, it is great craic on a boring day. The game Alias is fun and interactive, and extremely competitive, not to mention that is one of the most popular game in the world. I didn’t convince you yet? Well, that’s because if you have to try it.
But change the rules. Make it suitable for you; make teams of 3 or 4 people and play it at fast speed. Did you know you can play it on Zoom aswell? Absolutely brilliant!. If you prefer the virtual version of board games, you can find some cool alternatives on Airconsole Platform.
Body painting
If you are a bit eccentric, you will love this idea. It is by far my favourite cause you can do it now to kill boredom or save it for later, maybe as an anniversary present. If you are looking for date ideas that are unique and will spark your day, this should be on your list. Buy an acrylic painting set and a set of brushes, the bigger the brushes the better, and leave your inner artist to do the work. Use the body of your partner as a canvas and paint the most unique painting which probably will never see the light.
This activity is not only unconventional and surprising as will bond the connection between partners but it is also a relaxing activity to be done. If you are shy or you want to try this activity with someone else than your partner, keep the clothes on. In this way, you can make viral your masterpiece. Imagine how many likes! But remember, keep everything away. It can get very messy.
Be the Tourist
Ireland is amazing. With its beautiful landscapes and towns, there are tonnes of places you can visit . I bet you already did it. I know, restrictions, they forbade us to travel. But you can still find places to travel near you. My point is this: change the perspective! Next time when you are looking for things to do near you, go for a walk and do what I like to call: the tourist walks.
Be
Go to the park, walk in the neighbourhood, take the bus to a few stations or take a walk in the forest if you are lucky to live near the mountains. Go to those places and look at them as you are seeing them for the first time. Look at nature, look at people, and feel their energy. Recharge your batteries. It's cool to act silly from time to time, so go out and be a tourist.
This is what your soul needs. Remember, your soul needs as much food as your body needs. Doing the tourist walk will recharge your batteries, fill your time and, as a bonus, it gets you exercise time in. You’re welcome!
This tip is for enjoying the time with your inner. But if it makes it better, you can add some people to your trip. It’s nice to share. Remember, healthy mind, healthy body.
Visit the world
Speaking of being a tourist, how would you feel about a museum trip? What about seeing the Louvre or experiencing the British Museum? Right, they are not in Ireland. But guess what? You still can do that! The only positive aspect of this pandemic is that it opened some gates for which you would have to pay a €20 ticket entrance. At least this is how much I paid 3 years ago in Paris for visiting Louvre Museum.
Nowadays, most of the world’s museums have virtual tours which you can access on Google's Art and Culture collection. It has never been easier. Either you are a fan of the museum or not, it’s great to have a look at the world’s most impressive pieces of art. You can also explore cities using the same platform. Imagine being in Rome, drinking your home-made coffee, and seeing all the attractions in one day! I am telling you: you cannot visit Rome in one day otherwise. I totally recommend having a look at the gallery because you can make your “where to go” bucket list for when the pandemic is over. That is something we all are looking forward to.
Do your Jigsaw
It's great if you want to try something new this year. And as time is not a problem at the moment, working on a jigsaw is a great activity. If it's your first time, this is another easy and fun way to occupy your time. Here is an idea to stimulate you to start working on one: get a personalised one. I got a personalized jigsaw puzzle last Valentine’s day with a our photo (me and my lad💕) and it was the best gift ever.
Apart from that, it is cool and unique (and is a great idea if you want to surprise someone you love). It really motivated me to start working on it. Nothing better to be proud of than your portrait hanging on the wall. Many websites are doing it in Ireland and you can start with a small number of pieces.
Top tip: if it is your first time, try it with 120 pieces to make sure you will finish it. Trust me, you will love it.
Have a party 🎉🎈
Of course, what is the world without a party? I totally agree that a party is what we all need now. So why don’t you host your virtual party?
If you like to spend time with your friends chatting and/or playing games, you can arrange a House Party. You can invite up to 8 people and do some of your favourite activities together. I personally prefer face-to-face interactions, but a app as House party" is a great tool to have when you want to escape. So, throw up that party that the neighbourhood will gossip about.
I hope you find the ideas interesting, and I am looking forward to you sharing your thoughts on how they worked for you. They are great craic when you want to break the routine. Thank you for reading and remember to stay healthy in body and mind.
Be bold, be original, try new things, and have a good laugh. We will get through this pandemic together.
