The global seafood expo is an annually occurring trade fair boasting over 2000 seafood producers from 89 countries for its 29,200 visitors. This year’s edition, held in Barcelona, will be the first in-person SEG since 2019 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Irish Food Bord – Bord Bia, is delighted to announce that it will be supporting 26 Irish seafood suppliers in showcasing their best-in-class, sustainably produced seafood. Ireland's Indigenous Species
Irish Organic Salmon
Irish organic Salmon is an incredibly popular choice the world over. Buyers of Irish Organic Salmon prepare it in many diverse ways. Some examples include baking, smoking or using it as part of a seafood chowder to give it a full-bodied flavour.
Irish Wild Pollock
Irish wild Pollock is fished sustainably off the south coast of Ireland. Irish Wild Pollock is a white fish, full of flavour. It is often used alongside cod, in fish and chips or fish fingers, as well as a seafood chowder.
Oysters
There are three main types of Oysters cultivated in Ireland - The European Flat Oyster, The Portuguese Rock Oyster and the Pacific Oyster. These Oysters are usually found on Ireland's west coast. The nutrient-rich waters of the West coast are ideal for growing oysters. The rugged coastline, shaped by the Atlantic ocean is indeed a perfect breeding ground.
Dublin Bay Prawns
As far as crustaceans are concerned, it is impossible to not mention Dublin Bay Prawns. Adored worldwide, these live crustaceans are found in abundance in Ireland. Delicious sauteed in garlic, white wine and butter. It doesn't take much to make a Michelin-worthy meal!
Irish Brown Crab
Finally, how could we forget the Irish brown crab! The delicate meat is best served chilled with lemon, garlic and butter. How could you resist!
