I think we can all agree that 2020 in more ways than one was not the year we were expecting. Despite the closure of almost every industry at one point or another throughout this painstakingly long pandemic, there is hope on the horizon. Sadly, this isn’t a farewell tribute to the coronavirus but I can tell you that it is a list of the best new and returning TV shows to brighten up your 2021. From fiction to famous documentaries, you’re bound to find something to brighten up your week but of course this is subject to everyone’s own opinion but it highlights the shows we’re most excited for. And yes, you should trust our judgement !

WandaVision – Release Date: January 15, 2021

No need to rub your eyes, you read that correctly. The first season of WandaVision is in fact already streaming weekly episodes dropping every Friday. This show brings together two of the MCU’s biggest heroes in a head-scratching series. What better way to kick-start that action-packed weekend of couch surfing, aye? If you’re a Marvel fan, get this on your watch list. If you’re not a marvel fan! Well.. you’d probably be pretty confused starting off with this, so I’d recommend going back to one of the earlier movies first then come back to us, you won’t regret it. Hint: the next two upcoming shows are also Marvel, you can go ahead and skip to number 4. Thank me later.

Loki – Release Date: May 2021

So, only Marvel fans here now, great! Soon, Tom Hiddleston will return as the God of Mischief in his very own series. However, this time alongside Owen Wilson?! Who would have thought he’d make it on the marvel scene. All I can say is ‘wow’.

You’ll be glad to hear Loki is coming to Disney+ who are becoming esteemed in developing successful tv series. So we’re in good hands. If you’re looking for further insight into what Loki will be about, check out the trailer below:

Watched? Good. Surprised? Same.. Owen Wilson with short hair, who would have thought.

Falcon and The Winter Soldier: March 19, 2021

The third and final Marvel TV series coming to the home screen this year is The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, set to be released in a little under a month. Hopefully, this will make the remaining weeks of lockdown that little bit easier as it airs weekly up until the end of April. This Disney+ and Marvel collaboration will feature the people’s favourite Sebastian Stan alongside Anthony Mackie. The direction of this show is still unknown but after the developments in Endgame, it’s bound for success.

Money Heist Season 5 (Final season) – April 2021

Moving swiftly on from all things Marvel to La Casa de Papel, otherwise known as Money Heist. The exact release is all but confirmed but yes, the 2017 hit phenomenon is returning for a 5th and final season.

If you’re yet to watch the first four seasons of the Netflix award winning show, then I implore you to stop what you’re doing right now and go watch it (sure isn’t that the point of working from home?) Commit to reading the subtitles and watch the events of the incredible Spanish crime drama unfold. Still not sold? Here are five more reasons why you’ll want to catch up before that climatic final season releases:

Stranger Things Season 4 – ?th, 2021.

The Netflix original burst onto the scene in 2016 and has ultimately been a fan favourite since day one. What we do know is season 4 is coming out this year. For sure. What we don’t know is, when exactly. Many fans are predicting sometime late spring but I’m not buying into it just yet since that’s a little under 8 weeks away. In the past the showrunners have release the new season in tandem with public holidays (Halloween and 4th of July in the past) so something tells me that our old pal Covid may have put a spanner in the works! I can tell you that recent news is hinting at the upcoming being the ‘darkest season yet’. You may not like the sound of the that but when it comes to the Duffer brothers/creators, any superlative they use is not used lightly. I can’t wait.

That concludes our list. For those of you who have shows to go and watch, get to it, no time to waste. For those up to date with everything, sadly we must wait. Hey, sure we don't have too long to wait with the penultimate episode of WandaVision coming out on Friday! For now, go ahead and have a look at our other blogs which branch further into different aspects of the home tv world;
