Top 5 Traditional Bars in Dublin

Whether it’s an after work pint or a weekend bar crawl, it’s doesn’t get much better than a traditional Irish bar. A welcoming door where the Guinness is creamy and the craic is ninety.

Here is our list of best traditional bars around Dublin, have a scroll and see where you’ll be headed this weekend.

O’Donoghue’s

One of the most iconic pubs in Dublin when it comes to live traditional music, having given the Dubliners their start back in the day- but be sure to get in early as it is always very busy. O’Donoghues also has a great beer garden as we come into the summer months, sun bathing never sounded so appealing!

Toners

Toners on Baggot street, having said to be a favourite watering hole of the poet WB Yeats, has to be top of the list when it comes to tradition. Dating back to 1818 with the memorabilia on the walls to prove it, this is a true time capsule of the city. If you’re lucky enough to get the snug by the front door you will happily sit and watch the world go by from the comfort of that seat.

Doheny & Nesbitt

Probably the most photographed pub on this list, Doheny & Nesbitt’s is one of only a few pubs in Dublin still standing from the Victorian era. The front bar still boasts its original counter and wooden engravings, standing the test of time as the city builds around it.

The Long Hall

This is a favourite of ours for a midweek pint as it can get a little crowded on the weekends, but for good reason. This has to be the cosiest of pubs on the list, from classic wooden interior to the plush ornate red carpets – it’ll feel like you’ve went back in time. You can’t miss the bold red and white exterior which hasn’t changed since opening its doors!

The Stags Head

Having literally been awarded the best pub in Ireland and best traditional pub in Ireland I don’t see how The Stags Head wouldn’t make it on this list. We can all agree though that sitting in front of a fire place on a comfortable couch drinking a cold pint is hard to beat, and you can get that all in The Stags Head. Located in the heart of the city this is a must see for anyone who hasn’t been before, great craic and great pints!
