Have you ever wondered what to put into your suitcase whenever going to Ireland? I always deal with this as I am a really bad packer, always forgetting essentials. As everybody knows, Ireland is a rainy country, but optimistic people as I would think that in spring the weather would turn better and there is no need for the umbrella all the time. That is not true. Don't bring spring clothes, you are not going to be able to wear a dress or short pants! These clothes will just be a lump in your closet and you'll never be able to put them on. The weather here tends to be more or less similar throughout the year, mainly rainy every day! Therefore, in your suitcase, you will have to put clothes with the same style: warm clothes.

I would recommend bringing a heavy coat, which is also waterproof, this garment will become your best ally in your stay on the island. In my opinion, I would say bringing in a coat that suits everything as you are not going to take it out. Also, don't forget a pair of gloves and a hat. These accessories are going to be a key part of your day to day outfit. Be aware that even if you wake up on a sunny day, the weather here is constantly changing so you must come out warm and ready for a change. I say this from my own experience, that more than once the universal flood has fallen on me and I was not prepared. You can't trust the weather you see in the morning at your window because the weather is constantly changing, you must consider it.

As it is usually rainy here, you might think an umbrella is also a good friend. The problem is that the Irish rain is often accompanied by strong winds, so sometimes an umbrella would not be much help. When I say sometimes, I mean most often, as Ireland is an island, it usually has heavy winds. That's why an umbrella may just be a lump in your suitcase. If you bring on an umbrella, try it to be high quality so it lasts longer than just one rainy day. I suggest a waterproof coat and a hat, they will be more useful.

Regarding the footwear, even if you come as a tourist or to stay a longer time, the ones you are more going to wear are comfortable, light and warm shoes. Since the cities in Ireland are relatively small, you can walk almost everywhere, which I would say it is an improvement in the standard of living. But if your shoes are uncomfortable it is torture. For that, it is essential that your shoes  contain these three basic qualities, otherwise, you will have practically no use for them. I´m not much into water boots, but if you are a fan don't forget to bring thermal socks as the boots protect from the rain but do not warm the feet.

In Ireland, as in other European countries, they use a different type of plug, so you will need to buy an adapter. If you don't have time to buy it before coming to Ireland, there is no need to worry as you can find them in almost every store and are really cheap.

Don't give too much thought to which T-shirts to bring, since what you're going to show about your outfit are the sweaters. This tip is addressed to those flirtatious people, it is essential to make a proper choice of sweaters since you will wear them very often.. keep it on mind when packing. Don´t forget that living alone goes hand in hand with being independent and doing your housework, as doing the laundry. Leave all the wool garments at home as they cannot be put into the washing machine because they will shrink, also they take up too much space in the suitcase, so leaving them at home would be the best option.

For people coming here to studying abroad, I imagine you'll come with a thrifty mentality. Trying to save as much as possible, so as not to stop making any plans and to make the most of the stay in another country. It is a rage to spend money on things you're not so keen on, for example, a calculator. If you have space in your suitcase, don't hesitate to put all the material you need for college. This way you save that money and you can spend it in your free time. If you like to party or if you are a smoker, keep in mind that alcohol and tobacco are very expensive in Ireland. I would recommend that you buy it in your city and bring it with you, which I imagine will be cheaper. Another important tip, although I am moving away from the main issue, it is important to have cash in Ireland as in many places and in taxis, you can only pay with cash.

With this post, it seems that Ireland is a horrible city with super bad weather, but it's not true. Don't be afraid, in fact is the opposite. It's a city that is lively almost all day, every day. There are plenty of plans and things to do. The Irish are used to this weather and the rain doesn't pull them back. The terraces have a roof and heaters, so the weather is no excuse not to go out. I assure you that you will have an amazing time, enjoy the trip and that you will love this country as much as I do. Just use my recommendations as it will be easier to get used to the weather faster.

Don't let the rain stop you, enjoy every moment of your stay!!!
