Heya Explorers!
When you think of Ireland the word which comes second to that thought is beer. It's not only you fellas, this country is globally recognised for its amazing alcoholic beverage offerings. Here in Dublin specially, when you ask for a beer it is assumed that you are asking for a pint of Guinness. The rich dark caramel coloured drink with a creamy foam on top is simply delicious to look at let alone to taste.
The city takes your experience up by a notch by offering a full blown tour of the seven floored storehouse of their beloved Guinness. As an international student one of the top things in my bucket list was to visit this storehouse as it came first on every list regarding places to visit in Dublin. I finally got a chance to visit this place along with my friends at UCD Michael Smurfit which made the experience a whole lot of fun and surprisingly each person in the party was from a different country, talk about diversity!
Since I am a student, I got a student discount on the ticket price and paid 19.5 Euros in total for the entry which also included a free pint of Guinness. So I start the day all excited to be able to finally see the place with an amazing group of friends and as soon as I open the curtains of my bedroom in the morning, it was windy and raining because that's just how the Irish weather is. Anyways we still do go as the tickets were pre purchased.
The real hero of the entire experience was the gravity bar! or so I thought it would be but I was really disappointed. Firstly, The bar was too small to accommodate the crowd and since it's a rooftop bar covered by glass to give a 360 degree view of Dublin, it was all fogged up due to the weather like literally you could see people swiping their hands on the class like one would do on a car window. you can see it in the picture of me in the Gravity Bar. If u notice in the background behind me it's the glass wall but its not at all transparent. To be honest it was the people I went with which made this whole experience a memorable one.
All in all, my opinion of the Guinness Storehouse is that it is a one time visit and honestly if you are coming to Dublin and happen to miss this spot, it shouldn't bother you that much if you are just a tourist wanting to see what Dublin is really all about. But if you are a beer enthusiast I am pretty sure this place would be a delightful experience for you. So if you, like me are looking for a place to visit with friends you can consider visiting the storehouse but if you are on a family vacay, I wouldn't suggest this spot for you.
