Well, the truth of the matter is, what your parents told you is true, reading books is good for you and you should read more!
If you want to learn something new or just looking for a book that tells an unforgettable tale, there is a book that will fit the bill.
Here are my favourite books I have read in this endless lockdown we are all going through :(
Hopefully will put a smile on your face!
12 Rules for Life – Jordan B. Peterson
Jordan B. Peterson is one of the most fascinating academic minds of our generation and the rules he outlines within this book, detail a way to live your life better than you currently are.
Okay, I hear you, why should you read a book, telling you how to live your life by somebody you have never heard of? Well reading this book has had a profound effect on my approach towards life and I would recommend to absolutely everyone.
Peterson is often villainized and receives a real mixed bag of reaction. I must admit I saw a short clip on social media of him and had my mind made up about him. This was a hasty judgement. Listening to his lectures on YouTube and reading his books have opened my eyes to the true content of his character.
Give it a chance, you will not regret it! Such a good read!
Currently priced €8.99 on Amazon, this book is one of the best value self-help books you will ever buy
Champagne Football: John Delaney and the betrayal of Irish football – Mark Tighe & Paul Rowan
This book dives deeply into the details surrounding John Delaney, the football association of Ireland and the misdoings under a regime that lacked corporate governance above all else.
As a student of the commerce program in UCD’s Quinn school of business and having taken the financial accounting 2 module, taught by the wonderful Prof. Niamh Brennan, this story struck a little closer to home. Niamh explained to us in class that she had been looking into the matter herself and wrote a story for the Irish Times on the topic, which we examined in class.
If you’re like me, a nerd, and just want to know more about the behind the scenes, you will not be disappointed.
If you have a love of football, you will not be disappointed in the book… you might be disappointed in John Delaney and co. though.
Currently priced €11.55 on Amazon
Bet you never heard of this one… lol
Okay for real… we know this book has been wildly popularized by the television adaptation and yes Connell and his chain are only lovely!
The story in this book is one so many of us can relate to on some level I feel. The story strikes close to home for so many of us, it really offers an immersive experience that you rarely find.
While you may have already watched the show on RTE, the depth of the story Sally Rooney conveys in the book form factor is astonishing and offers an enhanced experience. This book is the perfect read and I promise you won’t want to put it down! No seriously, you literally won’t be able to stop reading.
At the moment I find this to be best buy on the market at such a bargain of €4.50 on Amazon
