Lockdown has been challenging for many people, especially for parents and children. With long days at home it can be hard to keep them occupied, here are a few ideas to keep you kids busy through the covid-19 restrictions.
1) Baking
This is a great activity for you and your kids to do, it’s a great way to let them use their creativity and imagination. Baking can be an activity for the day or take 30 mins either way there’s a delicious reward at the end!

2) Online exercise and education
One of the toughest things being away from school is missing out on P.E., getting some exercise every day is vital for children as they grow. Thankfully there are some amazing resources out there which have online family friendly online exercise sessions. Back in march of 2020 RTE launched at home schooling platform accessible on its website and on the tv. It promotes fun and engaging lessons that can be done from home. It really is a great initiative as its something different from submitting daily schoolwork, it gets the kids excited about learning again.
Classes start at 11am and last and hour on RTE 2, after each class there is more content and activities to try on https://www.rte.ie/learn/home-school-hub/ and the RTÉ Player.
3) Arts and Crafts
Another great way to spend the time Is through arts and crafts, whether it be painting, drawing or making a bead necklace. This is a fun way for your kids to express themselves and be creative. It can get messy, but the quality time spent between parents and kids and the final product will definitely be worth it.
It looks like we could be living with restrictions for the foreseeable future, These ideas are sure to give you and your kids something fun and productive to do as well as giving them a routine.
