If you're reading this you're probably like me searching for fun and effective activities to keep you fit during these tough times. As a student during these times it is so easy to use the excuse that i can't workout because gyms are closed, but trust me this is the worst thing you can do because you'll find yourself quickly getting out of shape and losing motivation. Instead I encourage you that rather than using lockdown as an excuse to why you’re out of shape use it as an excuse to get into shape.
I understand that it's hard to stay active at home because we are so used to taking advantage of outside resources to stay fit such as gyms and fitness classes. Through this post i will share with you guys the things a young fitness fanatic like myself has learned that everyone reading this can do to keep in shape during lockdown. Everything I will mention is free of charge and can be done right now.
Zumba
I cannot stress the importance of working out with family members. One of the few benefits of lockdown is that we get to spend more precious time with our family members. If you're like me you probably find yourself spending most of your time locked away in your room but a great way to bond with family members is by doing Zumba. Zumba videos can be found on youtube. These are fun easy workout routines everyone in the family can do. All you will need is somewhere to watch the videos teaching you the routines and some space to do the routines.
Benefits of Zumba:
Just Dance
Similar to Zumba, just dance is a fun way you can burn some calories with everyone in the house. Although what just dance also gives you is the chance to learn some new dance moves you can use in the events you'll find yourself in the future.
Benefits of just dance:
Yoga
One of the benefits I can take away from having to stay at home more is my new found love for Yoga. I cannot begin to stress how beneficial Yoga has been for me during these tough times. Some of the benefits of yoga are:
Benefits of Yoga:
Yoga is so easy and can be done with everyone in the family. Being a student during these times can be extremely stressful and I have found yoga to be the best way personally for me to destress. We all know how difficult it can be to concentrate in online classes and Yoga has helped me improve my concentration massively. Someone I would recommend learning yoga with is Adrienne. You can find her videos for free on youtube using this link yoga with Adrienne, With over 9 million subscribers you are learning from one of the best and I can assure you you will not be disappointed.
GO OUTSIDE!!!
Even before covid modern day technology sees us spend a lot more time indoors, more than ever before. It is extremely important that we all go outside because By increasing the amount of fresh air we get we will increase the amount of oxygen which helps our white blood cells function properly by fighting and killing bacteria and germs. Fresh air also gives us a sharper mind which is very important for us students looking to do well in our academics. There are many good exercises you can do by yourself or with your family such as cycling, going on walks or playing sports like football, basketball or basketball.
