Disney Cake House - Is Magical Food Real?

Written by Conor Whelan | Feb 28, 2021 4:14:37 PM

If I told you, what two fun things do you remember doing during lockdown? We would all have the same answer. That’s right, Disney+ and TikTok 2020! From doing the Toosie Slide in our kitchens to placing a spell over you to make you 7 years old again. Throughout quarantine, TikTok has become a consistent part of our daily routine!

Have you been scrolling on your ‘For You Page’, and have ended up on ‘food TikTok’? Don’t lie, you’ve used a food hashtag like me. No? Oh. The food hashtag has been viewed over 109 billion times. Yes, your eyes are telling the truth - billion!

So I thought it would only be fitting to stuff our faces like a child put some of Disney’s wonderfully-looking, imaginative, simple recipes to the test, to see if they are really what TikTok (and my mind) has hyped them up to be. We will be rating them from 1 to 5 TikToks.

Tiana’s French Toast (Princess and The Frog)

Eat like a princess – Tiana

French toast is one of my favorite breakfast foods. My dad would make it when we were growing up. – When I remembered Tiana’s baked caramel French toast it sounded oozingly delicious to me. Interestingly there isn't really any caramel in this French toast per se, it is more of a

caramelized French toast as the brown sugar bakes over the custardy bread.

I’m still pleased with the results.

Ingredients

  • 10 ounce French Bread pulled apart in pieces
  • 1/3 cup Brown Sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon of Cinnamon
  • Dash salt
  • 6 Large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract.

Directions

1. Generously butter a 9 x 13 in casserole dish. Place the bread pieces in the dish.
2. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Sprinkle the mixture over the bread.
3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread. Then use a spatula to press the bread down to make sure it is well coated.
4. Cover the baking pan with aluminum foil and refrigerate it for at least 4 hours or overnight.
5. When you're ready to cook the French toast, heat the oven to 350 F. Bake the French toast with the foil in place for 20 mins. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 25 mins.
6. Take the tray out of the oven and let cool for about 5 mins before serving.
