Ingredients:
200g good quality dark chocolate 200g butter 250g caster sugar 5 eggs 1 tbsp. flour (or gluten free flour) Icing sugar for garnish Chocolate eggs/marshmallows for decoration (be creative!)
Method:
Preheat your oven to 190 °C
Bring a saucepan to a gentle simmer and place a heat proof bowl over it. Place the butter and chocolate in the bowl and melt slowly, while continuing to stir. Before the chocolate is completely melted remove from the heat. Continue to stir and finish melting off the heat (You must not overcook the chocolate!)
Now add in the sugar gradually, keep stirring with a spatula until all the sugar is incorporated.
Add the eggs one by one - using a spatula mix each egg in fully, before adding the next egg. The mixture will become more difficult to stir, but by the 5th egg should have a glossy and “gooey” consistency. Finally, add 1 tbsp of flour and stir well.
Pour into a cake mould (approx. 22cm diameter – we prefer to use the round tins where you can open and remove the side, it makes it easier to take out at the end!)
Place in the oven at 190 °C for 22 minutes. When ready the cake should still be moist on the inside. Leave to cool down, before decorating.
We sprinkle icing sugar over the top using a sieve. This is your part to get creative! |
