Living on a student's budget can be extremely tough and trying to budget in date activities can be a serious struggle for some. Enjoy a beautiful day outside Dublin's different parks and wildlife.

Stephan's Green

In the city centre of Dublin, you will find the sanctuary that is St Stephen's Green Park that is a perfect location for a date on a budget. Most busses that serve the city centre will stop near St Stephen's Green Park which makes it an easy and assessable place. Taking a relaxing stroll around the wildlife and lakes can be a nice way to spend your time. There are also ducks to feed on the lake which can be a new activity for both of you.

Picnic in Glendalough

The Glendalough Valley is located in the Wicklow Mountains National Park and has many attractions to entertain visitors with many budget options. Glendalough is known for its beautiful scenery, rich history, archaeology and abundant wildlife. Bringing a picnic to the beautiful location of Glendalough can be a budget way to have lunch away from town with there already provided benches. From its world-famous Monastic Site with Round Tower to its scenic lakes and valleys, as well as a selection of walks and trails in the area. There are some amazing historic sites to visit such as the Cathedral, St Kevin’s Kitchen, the gateway and trinity church to name a few. The most famous hike being along Wicklow Way which allows you to see Guinness Lake. The whole hike is over 132km so for a day trip even walking a tiny bit of it still allows you to take in all the sites. This can be a fun-filled day trip with many different activities to try out

 

Botanical Gardens

The stunning Botanical Gardens of Dublin are an oasis of calm and beauty to come and enjoy yourself on a date. The Botanic Gardens in Dublin are located in Glasnevin, just three kilometres from Dublin City Centre making it an easy journey. The best bit being that entry is free allowing you to spend money on other things that the gardens offer. Including the different range of cosy cafes which offer different snack and lunch options. The gardens are also famous for the exquisitely restored historic glasshouses. It is the perfect date option when you want something easy to do to get out of the house.

 

Cycling in Phoenix park

Another popular attraction for budget option date is the activities that Phoenix park has to offer. One of the main attractions being the bicycle hire which are located just inside the main gate on Parkgate Street. They offer to suggest routes to take to see all that phoenix park to offer. For a different way to get around there is a tandem bike option for two of you to ride on the one bike also an electric bike option. It is currently only €6 for an hour, €10 for three hours or €15 for the full day and you can pre-order this online for a quicker option. All the wild deer around the park can also a fun sightseeing activity for you and your date if you have never seen them before. If you wanted a more guided option, there are Segway and cycle tours which can take up to an hour. Also, there is the Dublin zoo which offers student prices and online saving options which is one of Dublin’s most popular attractions. All the animals can be observed in naturalistic spaces with vegetation, substrate and water features that reflect their native habitat. Taking a full day to see the whole park is the perfect budget date with even just having a nice walk around and a picnic on the grass area.
