Still struggling to commit to 'Vegan Lifestyle'? Here are 7 reasons why ‘Veganism’ goes beyond just eating the ‘Vegan Food’ ……...

'Veganism' is not just about giving up the consumption of meat and all animal-based food products; to join the social buzz of being addressed as a 'Vegan'. 'Veganism' is something which goes well past the vegan food and has the following important aspects to it.

☘️#1. Follow your Heart: Say the word 'vegan' and the first thought which comes to your mind is green leafy veggies; but I kid you not, the health benefits of following a vegan diet are way more than just eating your greens. Eating plant-based food has some major benefits for you. According to the Vegan Society; vegan food is suitable for all age groups and has low components of saturated fats and a high portion of the fiber. Following a vegan diet can keep your heart way super healthy as it lowers the risk of heart diseases by keeping the blood pressure and the cholesterol in control. It also improves your immune system and protects you against Type 2 diabetes and lowers the risk of prostate cancer and breast cancer.

☘️#2. Mind your Mind: Follow your heart, but take your mind along. Believe it or not, going vegan is not only healthy for your heart, but it is also good for your mental health. Studies have found out that consuming vegan food helps to lower anxiety and stress levels.

☘️#3. Meet your Dietary Supplements: Now giving up of meat, eggs and dairy products can cause some worry to you as these animal-based foods are considered to be the primary source of protein and calcium for humans. But don't you worry, as some plant-based foods such as whole grains, beans, legumes, soy, cereals, oats, bread, seeds, and nuts are high sources of proteins and can fulfill not only your protein and calcium requirements but also provide you with rich sources of iron, vitamin D and vitamin B12 in your diet (vegan food options).

☘️#4. Be Kind to Animals: Going vegan is not only good for you, but it also good for the animals. When I say 'good for animals', I mean by adopting a vegan lifestyle and giving up on consumption of animal-based foods and certain animal products like animal-fur, leather shoes, bags, belts, clothes, woolen clothes, certain cosmetics, perfumes, nail polishes, crayons, Guinness beer and so on you can certainly be more kind to animals and prevent cruelty towards them.

☘️#5. Be Kind to Mother Earth: Yes, you can help the environment by going vegan. Research has been conducted at Oxford University and it has been found that shifting your diet from animal-based to plant-based can help reduce the carbon footprint on the earth by almost 73%. By giving up on meat and dairy products, the global farmland used for rearing the livestock will be reduced and this will help to reduce agriculture's greenhouse gas emissions which in turn are responsible for increasing the heat in the atmosphere. And just a word of caution "not all meat is ethical and not all farming is sustainable".

☘️#6. Be Vegan and Be Fit: Did you know that by following a vegan diet you can keep a check on your weight. Yes, by no means I intend to make a joke here, but the fact is that by eating vegan food you can shed those extra pounds of body weight. Vegan food is rich in fiber and low in saturated fats and calories. Fiber helps to keep you full in between the meals and as the vegan food is low in saturated fats and calories, this prevents unnecessary weight gain.

☘️#7. Veganism is Budget-Friendly: UK researchers have found that going vegan can help reduce your monthly spending on grocery items. A recent survey conducted by UK researchers has found that a meat-free diet helped the British people save £ 2.8 bn last year on their grocery expenditure. This surely is positive news for anybody who is considering taking the vegan pledge.

Conclusion:  I can simply say that 'Veganism' is a choice, it’s a mindset, a way of life, a way of saying that you too care about a whole lot of things and you are willing to make, your tiny bit of contribution to a healthier world.
